Why does height need manual input?
Understand why smart scales require manual height entry
Why does height need manual input?
Unlike weight, height cannot be measured by a smart scale and must be entered manually.
Technical Limitations
Smart scales use bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) technology, which:
- Sends electrical signals through your body
- Measures resistance to calculate body composition
- Cannot measure height due to sensor placement

Why Height Matters
Your height is crucial for calculating:
- BMI (Body Mass Index): Weight ÷ Height²
- Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR): Energy calculation formula
- Body Fat Percentage: More accurate with height data
- Muscle Mass: Height affects muscle distribution
- Ideal Weight Range: Based on height
Accurate height input ensures all body composition calculations are correct. Even small errors can affect your metrics.
How to Input Height
- Open Fitdays app
- Tap Me → Setting (⚙️)
- Select Height
- Enter your accurate height
- Choose unit (cm or ft/in)
- Save changes
Measuring Your Height Accurately
For best results:
- Remove shoes: Measure barefoot
- Stand straight: Against a wall
- Look forward: Eyes looking ahead
- Morning measurement: You're tallest in the morning
- Use a flat object: Place on head, mark wall
When to Update Height
Update your height if:
- You're still growing (teenagers)
- You haven't updated it in years
- You notice calculation errors
- You used incorrect units before
Height and Age
Adults don't grow taller, but height can decrease with age due to spinal compression. Update if you notice significant changes.
Unit Conversion
Common conversions:
- 1 inch = 2.54 cm
- 1 foot = 30.48 cm
- 5'9" = 175 cm
- 6'0" = 183 cm
