Set Up the Scale
Hardware setup for your Fitdays smart scale - remove the protective film, install or charge the battery, set the weighing unit, and place the scale correctly before pairing the app.
Set Up the Scale
This page covers everything you do to your scale before you open the Fitdays app: unpacking, powering it up, choosing your weighing unit, and placing it correctly. Once these steps are done, continue to Connect the Fitdays App to pair and unlock body-composition data.
Fitdays scales come in several hardware variations - replaceable AAA batteries vs. a built-in USB-C rechargeable battery, foot-only (4-electrode) vs. pull-out handle (8-electrode), and Bluetooth-only vs. Wi-Fi + Bluetooth. Steps that apply to only some models are marked "On some models..." Follow the variation that matches the scale in your hands.

1. Unpack and remove the protective film
Take the scale out of the box and peel off the protective film, label, or sticker from the glass standing surface. Many scales ship with a film over the display or the standing area that must be removed before measuring.
If you weigh yourself with the film still on, the electrodes can't make proper contact with your feet and body-fat data will be inaccurate or missing.
Typical contents you should find:
- 1 x smart scale
- Batteries (loose or pre-installed) or a USB-C / Type-C charging cable, depending on the model
- 1 x user manual
- On some Wi-Fi models: a small needle tool (often stuck to the plastic packing bag) used to wake the scale - see Wake a Wi-Fi model from shipping sleep
Can't find the cable or batteries?
On some USB-C models the charging cable is hidden inside the packaging tube under the scale. If you still can't find the cable, batteries, or manual, contact the seller's support (for example, ABLEGRID lists [email protected]).
2. Power the scale
Your scale uses one of two power systems. Identify yours and follow the matching section.
Battery models (replaceable AAA)
Most foot-only scales run on replaceable AAA 1.5 V batteries. The exact count varies by model:
| Battery count | Seen on models such as |
|---|---|
| 4 x AAA 1.5 V | the most common configuration |
| 3 x AAA 1.5 V | some compact models |
| 2 x AAA 1.5 V | some lightweight/value models |
To install the batteries:
Open the battery compartment. It is on the underside (or, on pull-out-handle models, inside the handle barrel). Slide or press the cover off; on handle models, twist the cap to "Open." Apply gentle pressure if the lid is stiff.
Insert the batteries with the correct polarity. Match each cell to the + / - markings molded inside the compartment - the cells usually alternate direction.
If the batteries came pre-installed, pull out the insulating strip (the plastic tab or insulation sheet between a battery and its contact). The scale will not power on until this strip is removed.
Close the cover and press it down until it seats fully. On handle models, twist the cap back to "Close."

Some bundled batteries are a trial set. A few models recommend replacing them within about 3 months. If you won't use the scale for a long time, remove the batteries to prevent leakage. Do not mix old and new batteries, or batteries of different brands/types.
USB-C / Type-C rechargeable models
Some scales have a built-in rechargeable lithium battery instead of replaceable cells. Reported capacities range across models from roughly 300 mAh to 1000 mAh.
Find the charging port on the edge or underside of the scale, next to the power button.
Plug in the supplied USB-C / Type-C cable, then plug the other end into a standard USB power adapter and outlet.
Charge before first use. Guidance varies by model: most USB-C scales recommend charging for about 2 hours; some models specify a 5V / 1A charger, and a few embedded-lithium models call for charging 4 hours before first use. Use a normal 5V / 1A (DC) adapter.
While charging, the display typically shows a charging animation or a battery icon with a lightning bolt; on some models the bars fill from empty to full, or the icon stays lit when fully charged.
- Do not use the scale while it is charging on models that warn against it.
- On the smart tape measure, use only the supplied cable with a DC 5V / 1A (or higher) charger and do not charge with a Power Delivery (PD) charger. See Smart Tape Measure.
- During charging, the app is not connected and no profile is set, so the scale can only weigh - it can't measure body composition yet.

How the scale turns on
- Pressure-sensing (most models): there is no power switch. After the scale is on a hard, flat floor, it lights up automatically when it senses a load of more than about 5 kg - just step on (or tap with a foot) to wake it.
- Power button (some models): press the button on the edge/underside (often next to the charging port) to switch on, or to wake a USB-C model from sleep.
If the display stays blank, see Power the scale above and The scale doesn't turn on.
Wake a Wi-Fi model from shipping sleep
Wi-Fi models only
Wi-Fi + Bluetooth dual-mode scales ship in a deep "sleep" mode to save power. To wake one for the first time, insert the supplied needle tool into the reset hole on the edge of the scale and press. After that, the scale wakes normally by stepping on it.

3. Set the weighing unit
Your scale can display weight in kilograms (kg), pounds (lb), or stone (st). Some China-market models (for example, SHUA) also offer jin (斤, the Chinese catty, = 0.5 kg). How you switch units depends on the model:
| Method | Where it is | Models |
|---|---|---|
| UNIT button / touch icon | Inside the battery compartment, on the underside, or as a capacitive "UNIT" spot on the bottom | Many AAA battery models |
| Power button (short press) | On the edge/underside; each press cycles kg -> lb -> st | USB-C and some Wi-Fi models |
| Handle button | On the pull-out handle's touch panel | Pull-out-handle (8-electrode) models |
| In the Fitdays app only | App settings | Models with no on-scale unit control |
Press or tap the unit control to cycle through the available units until your preference shows on screen. On many models the on-scale unit and the app stay in sync; on others you switch units only in the app.
To change the unit in the app, open Fitdays -> Account / Mine -> Settings -> Switch units. You may also see a separate height-unit choice (cm / inch). Setting units in the app is fully covered in App Features and Instruction for Fitdays App.
4. Place the scale correctly
Where you put the scale directly affects how accurate it is.
- Use a hard, flat, level floor - tile, stone, or solid wood. The scale must sit securely and not wobble or tilt.
- Do not place it on carpet, rugs, or other soft surfaces. Soft or uneven surfaces (carpet, linoleum, uneven brick or paving) distort the reading.
- Make sure all feet touch the floor with no gaps. If a foot is off the ground, weight measurements will be inaccurate.
- Keep the area dry. Be careful on wet, slippery floors.

If you move the scale to a new spot, let it rest and re-zero before weighing. Some models advise letting it settle about 5 seconds after moving so the sensors calibrate to the floor. The full step-on calibration routine is described in How to Measure.
5. Check the low-battery indicators
Before your first real measurement, it helps to know what the scale shows when power runs low:
Lo/LOon the display means the battery is low.- On battery models, replace the cells.
- On USB-C models, recharge with the supplied cable.
- A flashing battery icon generally means power is low but the scale is still usable; a steady "Lo" with the battery icon means it is too low to use and may shut off after a few seconds.
- A completely blank display can mean the battery is dead (replace or recharge).
A full list of on-screen symbols and error codes lives in Indicators and Errors; see also What does "Lo" mean?.
You're ready to pair
With the film removed, power in place, your unit chosen, and the scale on a hard floor, the hardware setup is complete. Next:
- Connect the Fitdays App - download the app, create your profile, and pair over Bluetooth (and Wi-Fi on dual-mode models).
- How to Measure - correct posture, barefoot contact, and the step-on calibration routine.
